Ingredients
- Phyllo dough - 6 sheets
- Unsalted butter - 50 grams, melted
- Walnuts - 75 grams, finely chopped
- Pistachios - 25 grams, finely chopped
- Sugar - 75 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Rose water - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Add rose water and set aside to cool.
- In a bowl, mix the chopped walnuts, pistachios, ground cinnamon, and a tablespoon of the melted butter.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter. Repeat this process for 3 sheets, layering them one on top of the other.
- Spread half of the nut mixture evenly over the layered phyllo.
- Cover the nut mixture with 2 more sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter. Then spread the remaining nut mixture on top.
- Finish by layering the last sheet of phyllo on top, brushing it with butter. Cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes using a sharp knife.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and immediately pour the cooled syrup over the hot baklava. Allow it to soak for at least 10 minutes before serving.
