Ingredients

  • Lamb or beef döner meat - 200 grams
  • Pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Tomato sauce - 100 ml
  • Butter - 30 grams
  • Plain yogurt - 100 grams
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dried oregano - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Place the pita breads on a baking tray and lightly toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until crisp.
  3. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Add the tomato sauce to the skillet and season with salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Meanwhile, in a separate pan, cook the döner meat over medium heat until browned and heated through, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. In another small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat until bubbling, then remove from heat.
  7. To assemble, place the toasted pita on plates, top with the cooked döner meat, drizzle with the tomato sauce, and pour the melted butter over the top.
  8. Serve generously with a dollop of plain yogurt on the side.
