  • Milk - 30 ml
  • Vegetable oil - 30 ml
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon

  • Butter - 30 grams (for caramel)
  • Brown sugar - 50 grams (for caramel)
  • Heavy cream - 30 ml (for caramel)
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the egg mixture, and mix well.
  4. In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased small baking dish (approximately 15x15 cm) and smooth the top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. While the cake is baking, prepare the caramel sauce by melting the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  9. Add the brown sugar to the melted butter and stir until dissolved, then slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring continuously.
  10. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly, then remove from heat.
  11. Once the cake is done, let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
  12. Drizzle the warm caramel sauce over the slices and serve immediately.
