Ingredients
- Semolina - 100 grams
- Olive oil - 3 tablespoons
- Water - 250 milliliters
- Instant coffee - 1 tablespoon
- Maple syrup - 2 tablespoons
- Chopped walnuts - 30 grams
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - a pinch
Steps
- In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil and dissolve the instant coffee in it. Set aside.
- In a medium-sized skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the semolina and stir continuously until it becomes golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
- Once the semolina is roasted, carefully pour in the coffee water mixture while stirring to avoid lumps.
- Add the maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Continue to stir until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and fold in the chopped walnuts.
- Spoon the helva into serving dishes and let it cool slightly before serving.
