Ingredients

  • Rice - 50 grams
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Milk - 500 ml
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Cinnamon - for garnish
  • Chopped nuts (optional) - for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
  2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and 500 ml of water. Cook over medium heat until the rice is tender, about 15 minutes.
  3. Once the rice is cooked, add 500 ml of milk, sugar, a pinch of salt, and vanilla extract. Stir well.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a few tablespoons of cold milk until dissolved, then add this mixture to the pot.
  5. Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously until it thickens, about 5-10 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.
  7. Serve the sütlaç in bowls, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon and chopped nuts if desired.
