- Rice - 50 grams
- Water - 500 ml
- Milk - 500 ml
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - a pinch
- Cinnamon - for garnish
- Chopped nuts (optional) - for garnish
Steps
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and 500 ml of water. Cook over medium heat until the rice is tender, about 15 minutes.
- Once the rice is cooked, add 500 ml of milk, sugar, a pinch of salt, and vanilla extract. Stir well.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a few tablespoons of cold milk until dissolved, then add this mixture to the pot.
- Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously until it thickens, about 5-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.
- Serve the sütlaç in bowls, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon and chopped nuts if desired.
