Ingredients

  • Whole milk - 500 ml
  • Unsalted butter - 100 g
  • Sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the whole milk over medium heat until it reaches a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  2. Once the milk is simmering, reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 30 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
  3. After 30 minutes, add the unsalted butter and sugar to the milk, stirring until the butter is completely melted and incorporated.
  4. Continue to cook on low heat for another 15-20 minutes until the mixture thickens and reduces slightly.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the mixture into a clean glass jar or container and let it cool to room temperature before refrigerating for at least 4 hours or until set.
