- Cornmeal - 50 grams
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 100 ml
- Vegetable oil (for frying) - 500 ml
- Fresh parsley (for garnish) - a handful
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
- Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- Drizzle lemon juice over the fish fillets and let them marinate for about 5 minutes.
- Dip each fillet into the flour mixture, ensuring it is evenly coated on both sides.
- In a deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (around 180°C).
- Carefully place the coated fish fillets into the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry the fish for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Once cooked, remove the fish from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
