Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground beef - 250 grams
  • Onion, finely chopped - 1 medium
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Red bell pepper, finely chopped - 1 small
  • Parsley, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon, sliced - for serving

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  4. In the meantime, prepare the topping by mixing the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, tomato paste, red bell pepper, parsley, paprika, cumin, and black pepper in a bowl. Mix until well combined.
  5. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
  6. Once the dough has risen, divide it into two equal pieces and roll each piece into a thin circle (about 25 cm in diameter).
  7. Place the rolled-out dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread half of the meat mixture evenly over each dough circle, leaving a small border around the edges.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and the meat is cooked through.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes. Serve with lemon slices on the side.
