Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (such as cod or haddock) - 300 grams
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Canned tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh dill - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the white fish fillets, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into small patties, about the size of a golf ball.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the fish patties and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and pour in the canned tomatoes and water. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the cooked fish patties to the tomato sauce, cover, and let simmer for another 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Before serving, drizzle with lemon juice and garnish with fresh dill.
