Ingredients

  • Ground beef (lean) - 250 grams
  • Ground lamb - 100 grams
  • Onion (finely grated) - 1 small (about 50 grams)
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
  • Cucumber (sliced) - 1 small
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Greek yogurt - 100 grams
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground lamb, grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Shape the mixture into two patties, ensuring they are slightly larger than the buns as they will shrink while cooking.
  3. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have a nice crust.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the yogurt sauce by mixing the Greek yogurt with lemon juice, salt, and a pinch of black pepper in a small bowl.
  5. Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly in the same pan for about 1 minute until golden.
  6. Assemble the burgers by spreading the yogurt sauce on the bottom half of each bun, adding a lettuce leaf, a köfte patty, slices of tomato, and cucumber. Top with the other half of the bun.
  7. Serve immediately with a side of fresh salad or baked sweet potato fries.
