Ingredients
- Ground beef (lean) - 250 grams
- Ground lamb - 100 grams
- Onion (finely grated) - 1 small (about 50 grams)
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
- Cucumber (sliced) - 1 small
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Greek yogurt - 100 grams
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground lamb, grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into two patties, ensuring they are slightly larger than the buns as they will shrink while cooking.
- Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have a nice crust.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the yogurt sauce by mixing the Greek yogurt with lemon juice, salt, and a pinch of black pepper in a small bowl.
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly in the same pan for about 1 minute until golden.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading the yogurt sauce on the bottom half of each bun, adding a lettuce leaf, a köfte patty, slices of tomato, and cucumber. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with a side of fresh salad or baked sweet potato fries.
