Ingredients
- Ground beef (or lamb) - 300 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (for grilling)
- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 100 milliliters
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, minced garlic, chopped onion, parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
- Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 2.5 cm thick.
- Heat olive oil in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the köfte patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until fully cooked and browned.
- While the köfte are cooking, prepare the spicy sauce by combining tomato paste, red pepper flakes, lemon juice, and water in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until heated through.
- Serve the köfte hot, drizzled with the spicy sauce.
