Ingredients

  • Ground beef (or lamb) - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (for grilling)
  • Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 100 milliliters

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, minced garlic, chopped onion, parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 2.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the köfte patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until fully cooked and browned.
  4. While the köfte are cooking, prepare the spicy sauce by combining tomato paste, red pepper flakes, lemon juice, and water in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until heated through.
  5. Serve the köfte hot, drizzled with the spicy sauce.
