Ingredients

  • Ground beef (lean) - 250 grams
  • Onion (finely grated) - 1 medium
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Whole grain bread rolls - 2
  • Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
  • Cucumber (sliced) - 1/2 medium
  • Lettuce leaves - 4
  • Yogurt (plain) - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Shape the mixture into two patties, making them slightly larger than the bread rolls to account for shrinkage during cooking.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the köfte patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, until they are browned and cooked through.
  4. While the patties are cooking, cut the bread rolls in half and lightly toast them in a toaster or under a broiler until golden brown.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a köfte patty on the bottom half of each toasted roll. Top with slices of tomato, cucumber, and a couple of lettuce leaves. Add a tablespoon of yogurt on top before placing the other half of the roll.
  6. Serve immediately with a side of fresh vegetables or a light salad.
