Ingredients

  • Ground beef (lean) - 250 grams
  • Ground lamb - 100 grams
  • Onion (finely grated) - 1 small (about 50 grams)
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole wheat pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
  • Cucumber (sliced) - 1 small
  • Red onion (sliced) - 1/4 small
  • Plain yogurt - 100 grams
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh mint (chopped) - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground lamb, grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Divide the meat mixture into 2 equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are well browned and cooked through.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the yogurt sauce by mixing the plain yogurt, lemon juice, and chopped mint in a small bowl. Set aside.
  5. Slice the whole wheat pita bread in half to create pockets. Once the patties are cooked, place them inside the pita halves.
  6. Top each burger with sliced tomato, cucumber, and red onion. Drizzle with the yogurt sauce before serving.
  7. Serve the Köfte Tava Burgers warm, along with a side of fresh salad if desired.
