Ingredients
- Ground beef (lean) - 250 grams
- Ground lamb - 100 grams
- Onion (finely grated) - 1 small (about 50 grams)
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Whole wheat pita bread - 2 pieces
- Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
- Cucumber (sliced) - 1 small
- Red onion (sliced) - 1/4 small
- Plain yogurt - 100 grams
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh mint (chopped) - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground lamb, grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Divide the meat mixture into 2 equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are well browned and cooked through.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the yogurt sauce by mixing the plain yogurt, lemon juice, and chopped mint in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Slice the whole wheat pita bread in half to create pockets. Once the patties are cooked, place them inside the pita halves.
- Top each burger with sliced tomato, cucumber, and red onion. Drizzle with the yogurt sauce before serving.
- Serve the Köfte Tava Burgers warm, along with a side of fresh salad if desired.
