Ingredients

  • Ground beef (lean) - 250 grams
  • Ground lamb - 100 grams
  • Onion (finely grated) - 1 medium
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin (ground) - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Pide bread (or flatbread) - 2 pieces
  • Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
  • Cucumber (sliced) - 1 small
  • Lettuce leaves - 4
  • Yogurt (plain, for sauce) - 100 grams
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground lamb, grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 2 oval-shaped patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until fully cooked and browned.
  4. Meanwhile, mix the plain yogurt with lemon juice in a small bowl to make a simple yogurt sauce.
  5. Warm the pide bread in the oven or on a skillet for a couple of minutes until soft.
  6. To assemble, place a lettuce leaf on each pide bread, followed by a köfte patty, sliced tomato, and cucumber. Drizzle with the yogurt sauce.
  7. Fold the pide bread around the filling and serve immediately with a side of fresh salad, if desired.
