Ingredients

  • Ground lamb - 250 grams
  • Ground beef - 250 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - ½ teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable broth - 500 ml
  • Chickpeas - 100 grams, cooked
  • Carrot - 1 medium, diced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Lemon - 1, juiced
  • Pita bread - 2 pieces, for serving

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and form into 4 patties.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté the diced carrot and tomato for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
  4. Pour in the vegetable broth and bring to a simmer. Add the cooked chickpeas and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in the lemon juice for a fresh twist, and season with additional salt and pepper if needed.
  6. To serve, place a köfte patty inside a pita bread and ladle some of the broth with vegetables and chickpeas over it. Enjoy warm.
