Ingredients

  • Almond flour - 100g
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Mozzarella cheese (shredded) - 100g
  • Ground beef (or lamb) - 200g
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 50g
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
  2. In a bowl, combine almond flour, egg, and mozzarella cheese to form a dough. Mix until well combined.
  3. Place the dough between two pieces of parchment paper and roll it out into a thin circle, about 0.5 cm thick.
  4. Transfer the rolled dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10 minutes or until lightly golden.
  5. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft.
  6. Add ground beef (or lamb) to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  7. Stir in tomato paste, red pepper flakes, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. Remove the skillet from heat and mix in chopped parsley.
  9. Spread the meat mixture evenly over the baked crust.
  10. Return to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes until the edges are crispy.
  11. Slice and serve hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
