  • Ground beef - 250 grams
  • Ground lamb - 100 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 small, grated
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Turkish bread (pide or simit) - 2 pieces
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1, sliced
  • Red onion - 1/2, thinly sliced
  • Lettuce leaves - 2

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, ground lamb, minced garlic, grated onion, chopped parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into oval-shaped patties, about 2 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the köfte patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through.
  4. While the köfte are cooking, lightly toast the Turkish bread in a separate pan or oven until golden.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing one köfte patty on each piece of toasted bread.
  6. Top each köfte with slices of tomato, cucumber, red onion, and lettuce leaves.
  7. Cover with the top half of the bread, press gently, and serve immediately.
