- Lean ground beef - 250 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely grated
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (for grilling)
- Whole wheat pita bread - 2 pieces
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
- Lettuce - 2 leaves
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat and brush with olive oil.
- Grill the köfte patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have nice grill marks.
- While the köfte is grilling, warm the whole wheat pita bread on the grill for a minute on each side.
- To serve, place each köfte patty inside a pita, and top with slices of tomato, cucumber, and lettuce.
