Ingredients
- semolina - 50 grams
- all-purpose flour - 50 grams
- granulated sugar - 100 grams
- baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- unsweetened cocoa powder - 2 tablespoons
- milk - 100 ml
- vegetable oil - 50 ml
- eggs - 2 large
- vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- water - 150 ml
- lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- sugar (for syrup) - 100 grams
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a small baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract to the egg mixture, and mix well.
- In another bowl, combine semolina, flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup by boiling water, sugar, and lemon juice together until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the syrup over it while it's still hot.
- Let the cake absorb the syrup for at least 10 minutes before serving.
