Ingredients

  • Chickpea flour - 200 grams
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Feta cheese - 100 grams, crumbled
  • Spinach - 100 grams, chopped
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (optional)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the chickpea flour, salt, and water to form a smooth dough.
  2. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it is pliable. Let it rest for 10 minutes covered with a damp cloth.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the crumbled feta cheese, chopped spinach, and black pepper to create the filling.
  4. Divide the dough into 2 equal portions and roll each portion into a thin circle on a floured surface.
  5. Place half of the filling on one half of each dough circle, then fold the other half over to create a half-moon shape, sealing the edges well.
  6. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  7. Cook each gözleme for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy, adding more olive oil as needed.
  8. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on top while cooking.
  9. Serve warm with yogurt or a side of fresh salad.
