Ingredients
- Phyllo dough - 6 sheets
- Ground pistachios - 100 grams
- Coconut oil - 50 grams, melted
- Maple syrup - 100 milliliters
- Water - 50 milliliters
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, combine the ground pistachios, cinnamon, and half of the maple syrup. Mix well and set aside.
- Take one sheet of phyllo dough and brush it lightly with melted coconut oil. Layer another sheet on top and brush again. Repeat this process for three sheets.
- Spread half of the pistachio mixture evenly over the layered phyllo.
- Layer another three sheets of phyllo dough on top, brushing each with coconut oil as before.
- Spread the remaining pistachio mixture on top and cover with the last three sheets of phyllo, brushing each with coconut oil.
- Cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes using a sharp knife.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the baklava is baking, prepare the syrup by combining the remaining maple syrup, water, vanilla extract, and lemon juice in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Once the baklava is done, pour the warm syrup evenly over the hot baklava. Allow it to absorb the syrup for at least 10 minutes before serving.
