Ingredients

  • Phyllo dough - 6 sheets
  • Hazelnuts - 100 grams, finely chopped
  • Butter - 50 grams, melted
  • Greek yogurt - 100 grams
  • Honey - 30 grams
  • Sugar - 20 grams
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, combine the finely chopped hazelnuts, cinnamon, honey, and Greek yogurt until well mixed.
  3. On a clean surface, lay out one sheet of phyllo dough and brush it with melted butter. Repeat the process with 3 more sheets, stacking them on top of each other.
  4. Spread half of the hazelnut mixture evenly over the layered phyllo dough.
  5. Layer 2 more sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each with melted butter, and then add the remaining hazelnut mixture on top.
  6. Cover the filling with the last remaining phyllo sheet, brushing the top with butter again.
  7. Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamond shapes.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. While the baklava is baking, prepare the syrup by boiling water and sugar together for about 5 minutes, then adding vanilla extract.
  10. Once the baklava is done, remove it from the oven and pour the hot syrup evenly over the baklava.
  11. Allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
