Ingredients

  • Phyllo dough - 4 sheets
  • Walnuts, finely chopped - 100 grams
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Butter, melted - 2 tablespoons
  • Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 50 ml
  • Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, combine the finely chopped walnuts, cinnamon powder, and vanilla extract.
  3. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter.
  4. Place a second sheet of phyllo on top and brush again with butter.
  5. Sprinkle a quarter of the walnut mixture evenly over the phyllo sheets.
  6. Repeat the layering process with two more sheets of phyllo and another quarter of the walnut mixture.
  7. Top with the final two sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter.
  8. Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. While the baklava is baking, prepare the honey syrup by simmering honey and water in a small saucepan for 5 minutes.
  11. Once the baklava is done baking, pour the honey syrup evenly over the hot baklava.
  12. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
