- Phyllo dough - 4 sheets
- Walnuts, finely chopped - 100 grams
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Butter, melted - 2 tablespoons
- Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 50 ml
- Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, combine the finely chopped walnuts, cinnamon powder, and vanilla extract.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter.
- Place a second sheet of phyllo on top and brush again with butter.
- Sprinkle a quarter of the walnut mixture evenly over the phyllo sheets.
- Repeat the layering process with two more sheets of phyllo and another quarter of the walnut mixture.
- Top with the final two sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the baklava is baking, prepare the honey syrup by simmering honey and water in a small saucepan for 5 minutes.
- Once the baklava is done baking, pour the honey syrup evenly over the hot baklava.
- Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
