Steps
- In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and add the fine bulgur, stirring for about 2-3 minutes until lightly toasted.
- Add the water, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon to the bulgur, stirring well to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes until the bulgur is tender and has absorbed the liquid.
- Remove from heat and stir in the chopped walnuts and vanilla extract.
- Let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Fluff the helva with a fork, then transfer to serving plates and allow to cool slightly before serving.
