- Lean ground beef - 250 grams
- Red bell pepper (roasted) - 50 grams
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Whole wheat bread crumbs - 30 grams
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Whole wheat hamburger buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
- Cucumber (sliced) - 1/2 medium
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Roast the red bell pepper in the oven for about 15 minutes until the skin is charred, then let it cool and peel off the skin.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped roasted red pepper, onion, garlic, parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and bread crumbs. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
- Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are cooked through and browned.
- While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the whole wheat hamburger buns in the oven or on a skillet.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of the bun, followed by the cooked patty, tomato slices, and cucumber slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with a side of salad or your choice of vegetables.
