Ingredients

  • Lean ground beef - 250 grams
  • Red bell pepper (roasted) - 50 grams
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Whole wheat bread crumbs - 30 grams
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole wheat hamburger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
  • Cucumber (sliced) - 1/2 medium

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Roast the red bell pepper in the oven for about 15 minutes until the skin is charred, then let it cool and peel off the skin.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped roasted red pepper, onion, garlic, parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and bread crumbs. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  4. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are cooked through and browned.
  6. While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the whole wheat hamburger buns in the oven or on a skillet.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of the bun, followed by the cooked patty, tomato slices, and cucumber slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately with a side of salad or your choice of vegetables.
