Ingredients
- Green bell peppers - 2 large
- Ground lamb or beef - 250 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
- Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Feta cheese - 50 grams, crumbled (optional)
- Water - 100 ml
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
- Add the ground meat to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned.
- Stir in the tomato paste, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper, cooking for an additional 2 minutes.
- Remove the skillet from heat and mix in the chopped parsley and crumbled feta cheese, if using.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the meat mixture, packing it tightly.
- Place the stuffed peppers in a baking dish and add water to the bottom of the dish to help steam the peppers.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the peppers are tender and slightly charred.
