- Warm water - 150 ml
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Sugar - 5 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 15 ml
- White cheese (Beyaz Peynir) - 150 grams, crumbled
- Fresh parsley - 10 grams, chopped
- Black pepper - 2 grams
- Egg - 1, for egg wash
Steps
- In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into an oval shape about 1 cm thick. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread the crumbled white cheese evenly over each dough oval, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle chopped parsley and black pepper on top of the cheese.
- Fold the edges of the dough slightly inward to create a raised border.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the edges of the dough for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
