- semolina - 100 grams
- almonds (finely chopped) - 30 grams
- unsalted butter - 40 grams
- water - 250 ml
- sugar - 50 grams
- vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
Steps
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Once melted, add the finely chopped almonds and sauté until lightly golden, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the semolina and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until it turns a golden brown color, approximately 8-10 minutes.
- In another pot, combine water, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Gradually pour the boiling water mixture into the semolina while stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the semolina absorbs the liquid and thickens.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the helva with a fork and serve warm or at room temperature.
