Ingredients
- Yufka or phyllo dough - 4 sheets
- Ground beef - 250 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the ground beef, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and mix in the chopped parsley. Allow the filling to cool slightly.
- On a clean surface, lay out one sheet of yufka or phyllo dough and brush lightly with olive oil. Place another sheet on top and brush again.
- Spoon some of the meat filling along one edge of the dough, leaving space at the sides.
- Roll the dough over the filling to form a log, then tuck in the ends to seal. Place the rolled börek seam-side down on a baking sheet.
- Repeat the process with the remaining sheets of dough and filling.
- Brush the tops of the böreks with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
