Ingredients
- Ground lamb or beef - 300 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Yogurt - 2 tablespoons (for serving)
- Lemon - 1, cut into wedges (for serving)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, minced garlic, chopped red onion, parsley, red pepper flakes, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into two patties, making sure they are slightly larger than the burger buns as they will shrink while cooking.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are well browned and cooked through.
- While the patties are cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns in a separate pan until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a cooked patty, a slice of tomato, and a dollop of yogurt. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve with lemon wedges on the side for an added zesty flavor.
