Ingredients

  • Ground beef (lean) - 300 grams
  • Red onion (finely chopped) - 1 small
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Red bell pepper (finely chopped) - 1 small
  • Parsley (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole wheat pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
  • Cucumber (sliced) - 1 small
  • Lettuce leaves - 4

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, red onion, minced garlic, red bell pepper, parsley, chili flakes, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  2. Cover the mixture and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to enhance the flavors.
  3. Preheat a grill or a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Shape the meat mixture into patties, about 2 cm thick.
  4. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  5. While the patties are cooking, lightly grill the pita bread for about 1 minute on each side until warm.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a cooked patty in each pita bread, and top with tomato slices, cucumber slices, and lettuce leaves.
  7. Serve immediately with a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
