- Red bell pepper (finely chopped) - 1 small
- Parsley (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Whole wheat pita bread - 2 pieces
- Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
- Cucumber (sliced) - 1 small
- Lettuce leaves - 4
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, red onion, minced garlic, red bell pepper, parsley, chili flakes, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Cover the mixture and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to enhance the flavors.
- Preheat a grill or a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Shape the meat mixture into patties, about 2 cm thick.
- Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- While the patties are cooking, lightly grill the pita bread for about 1 minute on each side until warm.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a cooked patty in each pita bread, and top with tomato slices, cucumber slices, and lettuce leaves.
- Serve immediately with a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
