Ingredients

  • Lean ground beef - 250 grams

  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Burger buns - 2 pieces
  • Cucumber - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Carrot - 1 small, julienned
  • Sriracha - for serving (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves - 2 pieces (for serving)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, minced garlic, chopped shallot, cilantro, mint, fish sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  2. Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the cucumber and carrot salad by mixing the cucumber slices and julienned carrot in a small bowl. Drizzle with a little lime juice and a pinch of salt, then toss to combine.
  5. Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked beef patty, and top with the cucumber and carrot salad.
  7. Add Sriracha if desired, and cover with the top half of the bun. Serve immediately.
