Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon (for cooking)
  • Romaine lettuce leaves - 4 (for serving)
  • Mango - 1 medium, diced
  • Red onion - 1/4 cup, finely chopped
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, minced garlic, grated ginger, fish sauce, coriander powder, cumin powder, black pepper, and lime juice. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat coconut oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the mango salsa by combining diced mango, red onion, cilantro, chili flakes (if using), and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Mix gently and set aside.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  6. To serve, place each patty on a romaine lettuce leaf and top with a generous spoonful of mango salsa. Wrap the lettuce around the burger to enjoy.
