- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Shallots - 2, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Lime juice - 3 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh mint leaves - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
- Roasted rice powder - 1 tablespoon
- Cucumber - 1, sliced for serving
- Lettuce leaves - 4 for wrapping
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
Steps
- Press the tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then crumble it into small pieces.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, add the shallots and garlic, and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the crumbled tofu to the pan and cook for about 5-7 minutes until slightly golden, stirring occasionally.
- In a bowl, combine the lime juice, soy sauce, sugar, and salt. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
- Once the tofu is cooked, remove it from heat and pour the lime mixture over it, stirring to combine.
- Add the roasted rice powder, chili flakes, mint, and cilantro, mixing well to ensure everything is evenly distributed.
- Let the mixture sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve the larb in lettuce leaves, accompanied by cucumber slices for added crunch.
