Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Shallots - 2, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Lime juice - 3 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh mint leaves - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  • Roasted rice powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Cucumber - 1, sliced for serving
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 for wrapping
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then crumble it into small pieces.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, add the shallots and garlic, and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the crumbled tofu to the pan and cook for about 5-7 minutes until slightly golden, stirring occasionally.
  4. In a bowl, combine the lime juice, soy sauce, sugar, and salt. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
  5. Once the tofu is cooked, remove it from heat and pour the lime mixture over it, stirring to combine.
  6. Add the roasted rice powder, chili flakes, mint, and cilantro, mixing well to ensure everything is evenly distributed.
  7. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Serve the larb in lettuce leaves, accompanied by cucumber slices for added crunch.
