Ingredients

  • Ground turkey - 250 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Shallot - 1, finely chopped
  • Lemongrass - 1 stalk, finely chopped
  • Kaffir lime leaves - 2, finely sliced
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili paste (Nam Prik Pao) - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Burger buns - 2, whole grain preferred
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
  • Sriracha sauce - for serving

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, minced garlic, chopped shallot, chopped lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, chopped cilantro, fish sauce, lime juice, chili paste, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Mix the ingredients until well combined, then form the mixture into 2 burger patties.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F).
  4. While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the turkey patty, sliced tomato, and cucumber.
  6. Drizzle with Sriracha sauce if desired, then top with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately.
