- Ground turkey - 250 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Shallot - 1, finely chopped
- Lemongrass - 1 stalk, finely chopped
- Kaffir lime leaves - 2, finely sliced
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Chili paste (Nam Prik Pao) - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Burger buns - 2, whole grain preferred
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
- Sriracha sauce - for serving
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, minced garlic, chopped shallot, chopped lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, chopped cilantro, fish sauce, lime juice, chili paste, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix the ingredients until well combined, then form the mixture into 2 burger patties.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F).
- While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the turkey patty, sliced tomato, and cucumber.
- Drizzle with Sriracha sauce if desired, then top with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately.
