Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Coconut milk - 100 ml
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ground ginger - 1 teaspoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Skewers - 4-6 pieces (soaked in water if wooden)
  • Peanut butter - 3 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon (for sauce)
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon (for sauce)
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon (for sauce)
  • Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
  • Chopped peanuts - for garnish
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a bowl, combine coconut milk, soy sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, ground ginger, brown sugar, and turmeric powder to create the marinade.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and let it soak for at least 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
  5. Thread the marinated tofu onto skewers, ensuring they are spaced evenly.
  6. Grill the skewers for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until golden and slightly charred.
  7. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, maple syrup, and chili flakes until smooth to prepare the dipping sauce.
  8. Once the skewers are done, remove them from the grill and serve hot with the peanut dipping sauce.
  9. Garnish with chopped peanuts and fresh cilantro before serving.
