Ingredients

  • young green jackfruit - 400 grams, drained and rinsed
  • soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • coconut oil - 1 tablespoon
  • fresh cilantro - for garnish
  • lime wedges - for serving

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red chili flakes to create the marinade.
  2. Add the drained jackfruit to the marinade and mix well to ensure all pieces are coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill over medium-high heat and add coconut oil.
  4. Once the oil is hot, place the marinated jackfruit onto the grill. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until grill marks appear and the jackfruit is slightly caramelized.
  5. Remove from the grill and shred the jackfruit with forks for a pulled texture if desired.
  6. Serve the grilled jackfruit garnished with fresh cilantro and lime wedges on the side.
