Ingredients
- Lean ground turkey - 250 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh cilantro - 30 grams, chopped
- Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
- Thai red curry paste - 1 tablespoon
- Fish sauce - 1 teaspoon
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Romaine lettuce - 2 leaves
- Mango - 1 small, diced
- Red bell pepper - 50 grams, diced
- Jalapeño - 1 small, minced (optional)
- Honey - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, chopped green onion, Thai red curry paste, fish sauce, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into 2 patties of equal size, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add a small amount of sesame oil. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until they reach an internal temperature of 75°C.
- While the burgers are cooking, prepare the mango salsa by combining diced mango, red bell pepper, minced jalapeño (if using), honey, and a squeeze of lime juice in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly on the skillet for about 1-2 minutes until golden.
- To assemble, place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, add the cooked burger patty, and top generously with mango salsa. Close with the top half of the bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your Thai BBQ Burger!
