Ingredients

  • Lean ground turkey - 250 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh cilantro - 30 grams, chopped
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Thai red curry paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Fish sauce - 1 teaspoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Romaine lettuce - 2 leaves
  • Mango - 1 small, diced
  • Red bell pepper - 50 grams, diced
  • Jalapeño - 1 small, minced (optional)
  • Honey - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, chopped green onion, Thai red curry paste, fish sauce, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 2 patties of equal size, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add a small amount of sesame oil. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until they reach an internal temperature of 75°C.
  4. While the burgers are cooking, prepare the mango salsa by combining diced mango, red bell pepper, minced jalapeño (if using), honey, and a squeeze of lime juice in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
  5. Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly on the skillet for about 1-2 minutes until golden.
  6. To assemble, place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, add the cooked burger patty, and top generously with mango salsa. Close with the top half of the bun.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your Thai BBQ Burger!
