Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 400 grams
  • Fresh Thai basil leaves - 1 cup, packed
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, for garnish

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1.5 cm thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, minced garlic, lime juice, and chili flakes to create the marinade.
  3. Add the sliced tofu to the marinade and let it sit for at least 10 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even coating.
  4. Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium heat and brush it with vegetable oil.
  5. Grill the marinated tofu slices for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they have nice grill marks and are heated through.
  6. Remove the tofu from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
