Ingredients
- Glutinous rice - 100 grams
- Coconut milk - 150 ml
- Sugar - 30 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Grated coconut (unsweetened) - 50 grams
- Sesame seeds (optional) - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 30 minutes.
- Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice for about 20 minutes until it becomes translucent and tender.
- In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely, then remove from heat.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large mixing bowl and gradually pour in 100 ml of the sweet coconut mixture. Mix well until the rice absorbs the coconut milk.
- Allow the rice mixture to cool slightly, then wet your hands and form small balls (about the size of a golf ball) with the rice mixture.
- Roll the rice balls in the grated coconut to coat them evenly. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added texture.
- Serve the sweet coconut rice balls warm or at room temperature, drizzled with any remaining coconut milk mixture if desired.
