  • Fresh mango (sliced) - 1/2 fruit (for serving)

Steps

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice, coconut milk, sugar, salt, and pandan leaves (if using).
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
  5. Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature, topped with sliced fresh mango and toasted sesame seeds.
