Ingredients

  • Whole fish (such as tilapia or snapper) - 300 grams
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Thai bird's eye chilies - 2, finely chopped
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime wedges - for serving

Steps

  1. Clean and gut the fish, then make a few diagonal slashes on both sides to help the marinade penetrate.
  2. In a bowl, combine lime juice, fish sauce, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, bird's eye chilies, salt, black pepper, and vegetable oil to create the marinade.
  3. Place the fish in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring it is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or BBQ to medium-high heat. Oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  5. Grill the fish for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Remove from the grill and serve immediately with lime wedges.
