Ingredients
- Tofu - 200 grams
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Red bell pepper - 1, sliced
- Green bell pepper - 1, sliced
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Mushrooms - 100 grams, sliced
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetarian oyster sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Chili paste - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh basil - 10 leaves, for garnish
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into cubes.
- Coat the tofu cubes lightly with cornstarch.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Fry the tofu cubes until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of oil and sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the sliced red and green bell peppers, julienned carrot, and sliced mushrooms to the pan. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, vegetarian oyster sauce, chili paste, sugar, and lime juice.
- Pour the sauce over the sautéed vegetables and let simmer for 2 minutes.
- Add the fried tofu back into the pan, gently tossing to coat the tofu with the sauce and vegetables. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
