Ingredients
- White fish fillets (such as snapper or tilapia) - 300 grams
- Fresh lime juice - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Fresh Thai bird's eye chilies - 2, sliced (adjust to taste)
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 250 ml
- Lemon slices - 4, for garnish
- Steamed jasmine rice - 150 grams (to serve)
Steps
- Prepare the fish by rinsing the fillets under cold water and patting them dry with a paper towel.
- In a bowl, mix the lime juice, minced garlic, fish sauce, and sliced chilies to create a marinade.
- Place the fish fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for 10 minutes.
- While the fish is marinating, prepare a steamer or a pot with a steamer basket. Add water to the pot and bring it to a simmer.
- Once the water is simmering, place the dish with the marinated fish into the steamer basket and cover it with a lid.
- Steam the fish for about 15-20 minutes, or until it is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- Carefully remove the dish from the steamer and garnish the fish with chopped cilantro and lemon slices.
- Serve the Pla Nueng Manao hot alongside steamed jasmine rice.
