- White fish fillets (such as snapper or tilapia) - 200 grams
- Large shrimp, peeled and deveined - 150 grams
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Bird's eye chili, sliced - 1 (adjust for spice preference)
- Fresh lime juice - 3 tablespoons
- Lime zest - 1 teaspoon
- Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Cilantro, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Green onions, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Steamed jasmine rice - 1 cup (for serving)
Steps
- Prepare a steaming setup by boiling water in a pot and placing a steaming basket or plate on top.
- In a bowl, combine the minced garlic, sliced chili, lime juice, lime zest, and fish sauce to create a marinade.
- Place the fish fillets in the steaming basket and pour half of the marinade over them. Arrange the shrimp around the fish.
- Cover the steaming basket and steam the seafood for about 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and the shrimp is pink and opaque.
- Carefully remove the seafood from the steamer and drizzle the remaining marinade over the top.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro and green onions before serving.
- Serve the Pla Neung Manao hot with steamed jasmine rice on the side.
