Ingredients

  • Snapper fillet - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, julienned
  • Lemongrass - 1 stalk, finely chopped
  • Kaffir lime leaves - 3 leaves, torn
  • Bird's eye chili - 2, sliced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Water - 200 ml

Steps

  1. Prepare the snapper fillet by rinsing it under cold water and patting it dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, combine minced garlic, julienned ginger, chopped lemongrass, torn kaffir lime leaves, sliced bird's eye chili, soy sauce, fish sauce, and lime juice to create a marinade.
  3. Place the snapper fillet in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring it is evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Set up a steamer pot by bringing 200 ml of water to a boil.
  5. Place the marinated snapper on a heatproof plate and carefully place it in the steamer basket once the water is boiling.
  6. Cover the steamer and steam the fish for about 15-20 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Once cooked, carefully remove the plate from the steamer, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve immediately.
