Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams, diced
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Green beans - 100 grams, trimmed and cut into 2 cm pieces
  • Mushrooms - 100 grams, sliced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Oyster sauce (vegetarian) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Thai basil leaves - 1 cup, packed
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  • Cooked jasmine rice - 2 cups (for serving)

Steps

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the diced tofu and cook until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in the sliced red bell pepper and green beans, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  5. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  6. Stir in the soy sauce, vegetarian oyster sauce, and sugar; mix well to combine all ingredients.
  7. Add the Thai basil leaves and chili flakes, and stir until the basil is wilted and fragrant, about 1 minute.
  8. Serve hot over cooked jasmine rice.
