Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Thai bird's eye chilies - 2, chopped
- Red bell pepper - 1, sliced
- Green beans - 100 grams, trimmed and cut into 2 cm pieces
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Oyster sauce (vegan) - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh Thai basil leaves - 1 cup, loosely packed
- Cooked jasmine rice - 2 cups, for serving
Steps
- Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
- In a large pan or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the cubed tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the tofu from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and chopped bird's eye chilies, stir-frying for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the sliced red bell pepper and green beans, stir-frying for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Return the crispy tofu to the pan and add the soy sauce, vegan oyster sauce, and sugar. Stir well to combine all ingredients and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and fold in the Thai basil leaves until just wilted.
- Serve the Pad Krapow Tofu over cooked jasmine rice.
