Ingredients

  • Ground chicken - 250 grams
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced

  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Fish sauce - 1 teaspoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh Thai basil leaves - 30 grams
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Cooked jasmine rice - 2 cups
  • Eggs - 2

Steps

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and chopped chilies, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it apart and cooking until it is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the sliced bell pepper and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.
  5. Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar, mixing well to combine all ingredients.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat and fold in the fresh Thai basil leaves until just wilted.
  7. In a separate pan, fry the eggs sunny-side up until the whites are set and the yolks are runny.
  8. Serve the Pad Kra Pao over jasmine rice, topped with the fried egg.
