Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Thai basil leaves - 1 cup, packed
  • Green bell pepper - 1, sliced
  • Red bell pepper - 1, sliced
  • Baby corn - 100 grams, sliced
  • Mushrooms (shiitake or button) - 100 grams, sliced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Oyster sauce (vegetarian) - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lime - 1, juiced

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the tofu cubes and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the sliced bell peppers, baby corn, and mushrooms. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  6. Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili paste, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the vegetables and tofu.
  7. Fold in the Thai basil leaves and allow them to wilt, about 1 minute.
  8. Remove from heat, drizzle with lime juice, and serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
